  • 2006 - Clinton, as a senator, voted for the Secure Fence Act, which aimed to decrease illegal immigrants and drugs by erecting a 700 mile long fence along the southern border of the United States.

  • April 12, 2015 - Clinton announces her presidential candidacy. On her campaign website, she began to advocate equal citizenship and fairer rights to immigrants. She wrote, "We are a nation of immigrants, and we treat those who came into our country with dignity and respect—and that we embrace immigrants, not denigrate them."

  • 1st Presidential Debate (Sept. 26, 2016) - Clinton stated that border security is no longer a priority because net immigration from Mexico is nearing zero.

  • 2nd Presidential Debate (Oct. 9, 2016) - She is for detaining and/or deporting an undocumented immigrant if they pose as a "violent threat to public safety." During the second debate, according to National Public Radio, Clinton stated in retaliation to Trump, that we are to not ban people based on their religion due to the fact that we are a country founded on religious freedom and liberty.

  • 3rd Presidential Debate (Oct. 19, 2016) - She advocated for secure borders instead of open. Clinton also mentioned her Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which she promised to complete within her first 100 days in office, that will provide a path to full and equal citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

    - Donald Trump’s staunch domestic immigration policy is                outlined in his “10 Point Plan to Put America First

    -  His plan indicates that he will build an “impenetrable” wall          to be  paid for by Mexico, to detain and remove “criminal          aliens” as soon as possible, to triple the number of U.S.            Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to return                legal immigration to “historic norms.”

  • GOP Convention - Trump stated "Nearly 180,000 people with criminal records ordered deported from our country are tonight roaming free to threaten peaceful citizens” although the number of people was rated true by Politifact, his response to the problem in building a wall is uncalled for. According to America’s Voice, the undocumented immigrant population in the United States is the lowest it has been since 2003 and the safest in decades.

  • 1st Presidential Debate (Sept. 26, 2016) The closest Trump came to any of those issues during the debate was citing his recent endorsement by the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union representing federal immigration officers. 

  • 2nd Presidential Debate (Oct. 9, 2016) - Immigration was a yet again ignored by the moderators and the candidates. 

  • 3rd Presidential Debate (Oct. 19, 2016) - Immigration was finally discussed and Trump stated, "We'll get them out, secure the border and once the border is secured...we have some bad hombres here and we're going to get them out."
